The legal aspect of driverless cars is always going to be debatable, in my opinion, most countries will define theirs. Another great book review by Prof Haluk as the book as addresses the physical and cognitive limitations, the requirement for transportation services, the challenges and support needs for senior passengers
From chapter 12 of the book “Introduction to Senior Transportation” by Helen K. Kershchena and Nina M. Silverstein.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a disruptive innovation in the automobile industry which has led to the production of autonomous vehicles (Kerschena and Silverstein, 2018). This disruptive innovation has an impact on the use of transportation by people, especially the old as it changes the traditional working operation of vehicles. Since old adult can be challenged with some age-related changes in their health which can affect how they use vehicles, disruptive technology in automobile products such as navigation systems and cameras will have the potential of assisting older adults that need to drive.
Senior transportation is very essential as it addresses the physical and cognitive challenges for transportation services along with methods to support the senior passengers. The book reviewed in this section tried as much as possible to elaborate on the importance of older adult transportation, talks about traditional transportation options, comes up with new strategies in supporting flexible and accessible transport services to keep older people engage in daily life activities and the future of transportation, and also tried to provide detail explanation to train decision-makers.
This book will not only serve senior adults but also for physically challenged (people with disabilities)… Nice work!!!
Very interesting!
Learnt a lot on this episode. I got awareness on new trends.
i want to shed more light on the suggestion from the news section on ways to reduce traffic congestion as a result of AVs break down. i think connecting the vehicle to different networks would help in reducing mass hacking of autonomous vehicles at the same time since the hackers will find it dificult to detect which network is connected to which and cannot attack all the networks simultaneously.. this will reduce road congestion. using
