ITS Podcast Episode 4: Fighting Traffic Jams with Katsuhiro Nishinari's Jamology

Have you ever suffered a traffic jam? In this fourth episode we have interviewed professor Katsuhiro Nishinari, from the University of Tokyo in Japan. He has been recently keynote speaker at the IEEE IV 2013 symposium. We asked him to explain for our listeners his concept called “Jamology”. It is a really new and interesting way to fight traffic congestion, and he explains it very clearly.

We also have a news mini section were we talk a bit about a successful recent autonomous driving experiment by VisLab, they have called PROUD 2013.

At the Transportation in History section we talked about the wagonways, the ancestors of modern railways. This is a sad coincidence with the recent terrible railway accident that has just happened in Galicia, northern Spain. We at the ITS Podcast send our commiserations to all the victims and their families and our hopes for a quick recovery of the survivors. We also hope they find out what happened to prevent this from happening ever again.
