Dear friends, hope you had a great summer vacation.
In this episode we have Prof Bart Van Arem who has received the LEAD award of IEEE ITS as our special guest from TU Delft university. He will talk about intelligent vehicles and their impact on our lives also he will talk about his activities and his lab in TU Delft. As usual we are starting with a short news mini section then, Prof. Haluk Eren from Farat university Turkey will continue with a review of a book about transportation networks.
The book title is “Vulnerability Analysis for Transportation Networks”, and consists of 274 pages; produced by Elsevier in 2018, written by Michael Taylor.
Dear Listeners, either you are a researcher in Intelligent transportation field or are just interested, don’t hesitate to contact us, we are recruiting volunteers and your help will be highly appreciated.

A nice review, by Prof Haluk Eren, of the book ‘Vulnerability Analysis for Transportation Network’. I am quite looking forward to reading the book.
I have always been concerned with the planning and management of transportation networks across all modes and I am hoping reading the book will offer me some clarifications.
In an urban transport system, public transport is one of its vital components that rely on the use of transport networks. Therefore, the book “Vulnerability Analysis for Transport Networks” by Michael Taylor will be much handy for academics, researchers, and practitioners in transport networks and services. It will help them in identifying challenges such as the severity of network links disruption in a transport system and how appropriate actions can be taken to reduce the problem(s) detected and improve public transport efficiency and robustness.
The book reviewed by Dr. Haluk Eren will help any reader/ researcher or someone curious to understand the different concepts, theories, methods, and diff approaches to network vehicle analysis. It encompasses anything one needs to know about the vehicle of transportation networks. Kudos!!!
The impact of Intelligent vehicles in our lives is an area that needs extensive research, it’s good to have a book review on vulnerability analysis for transportation networks. Communication and network is crucial for successful AV realisation and vulnerabilities lead to failure.
Thank you Prof. Haluk Eren for the review of this very important book. The presence of a fully autonomous cars on our roads will soon be witness by all and is a welcome development as pointed out by Prof Bart Van Arem in the interview section considering the positive impacts of it.
A realistic assessment of vulnerabilities given a range of conditions can deliver significant value through risk identification and prioritization. this will go a long way in helping to put safety measures in place to check those factors that will put human life at risk as a result of their failures
